*The only exceptions which families need to supply are: baby formula, and diapers if applicable
As a registered Early Childhood Educator I am registered at the College of ECE. You can look me up in the public register www.college-ece.ca/en to see our qualifications, and if one is in good standing with the college. This provides families with the security of proper qualifications, and ensures high quality care and early learning. RECE's have professional standards to upkeep, and are engaged in daily continuous professional learning. You are guaranteed a solid academic background of two associate degrees in early learning and child care, and many extra workshops, courses, and webinars. Knowledge that stretches from brain development to nutrition. I am a parent myself from three boys, which provides me with the other important part of early learning and childcare. Knowing from experience what it takes to be a parent, and the challenges you face.
I have my Covid-19 vaccines, all other vaccines, first aid, CPR-C (includes infants), and a police vulnerability sector check. We send a daily rapport home via the Brightwheel app with pictures, and information about your child's sleep, meals, toileting, and other activities.
Early Childhood Educators are specialized in teaching infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We track their development, and emerging skills, write curriculum accordingly for each individual child, as for the group as a whole. Provide activities, and materials the children can use to practice, and improve their skills. Provide opportunities for scaffolding, and support of emerging skills. We update families daily on their child's learning, and create their portfolio of learning via the Brightwheel child care app. Group learning, documentation, and celebrating the children's learning, via story boards, and learning stories. Brilliant preschoolers quotes, projects, and other fun stuff, can be found on our blog, which is only accessible to parents of the students attending.
Children need to be dressed in comfortable clothing which may get dirty. The clothing needs to be weather appropriate. For the summer we recommend: a hat with wide rims, and sandals or shoes. For spring and autumn: a waterproof/repellent coat, splash pants, and rain boots (some snow boots are water proof and double up as rain, and snow boots), fleece mittens, and a hat. For winter: a winter coat, snow pants, or a one piece snow suit, snow boots, waterproof mittens, a collar, a hat. A thin car coat, and indoor shoes optional. Indoors of the child care children can choose to wear indoor shoes, socks, or bear feet. We keep our child care cozy warm in the winter, and nicely cool air conditioned in summer.
Your child shall receive a morning snack, a warm daily fresh home cooked lunch , and afternoon snack. Water is our drink of choice, and fresh fruit every day. We try to eat organic, and from our own garden were possible, and cook with the seasonal fruits and vegetables.
In my culture children's birthday parties are very important, therefore we throw each child a party on their birthday, or on the Thursday in case of a weekend birthday. In the winter we throw balloon parties, and in the summer bubble parties. There will be decorations, cake, singing, music, dancing, a present for the birthday child, and a balloon for all children (and all siblings if applicable) to take home.
Every day between 1.00pm, and 3.00pm we have nap/rest time. Children under the age of 18 months are provided with a two nap sleeping schedule required if , 'Baby nap time' is from 9am till 9.30am. Children sleep in a crib, these are professional quality, easy to clean, and disinfect. Children whom are toilet trained, or need rest time as they grew out of nap time will be provided with a professional quality cot in the playroom, so they are right next to a washroom, have the option to quietly read books, or play after the first 45 minutes of mandatory rest.
Even though we run a child lead program, certain events come back every year. As they are foremost season bound, it manifests in the live of a child, which rises questions with each child, and puts it on top of their mind. Think of season changes, birds migrating, planting seeds, harvesting, raising butterflies, and other interesting annual events. As children in their early childhood learn by observing, practice, and repetition, these programs provides them with a sense of time, culture, understanding of their world, and a sense of belonging.
As our world has many different people, with many different believes, and opinions, we decided to be multi cultural, and inclusive with our celebrations as well. Therefore we actively celebrate holidays, special occasions, and recognition days from all over the world. This provides a great introduction to different customs of cultures. Count in Halloween, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Easter, Diwali, Eid, Hanukkah, Spring Festival and many others. But also Remembrance Day, Day Of Truth And Reconciliation, Pink Shirt Day, Groundhog Day, and many more
As everyone is different, we have the standard policy on gifts for friends for birthdays, graduation, sibling births, and . We cannot accept store bought presents, however, we promote making a card together with your child.

Once a child care space opens up, all families with a requested start date of two months before, up to three months after, will be notified by email of the upcoming opening. Each family still looking for care can make this known after which I will send an invitation to our initial intake questionnaire.
After receiving this filled out, I will email you the intake forms, contract, and policies. Once these have been read, and approved by you, we can set a time, and date for a meeting in person, and tour of the child care spaces.
To secure the child care space for your family, families are required to fill out the contract, sign it, and send it back via email. As well e-transfer the non-refundable deposit, which will be used for your last month of care once your one months notice has been given.
At this point it is a first come, first serve, to provide an equal change for all families to obtain the child care space. With the exception of siblings from children already attending.
Your child care space is not secured until we have received:
a signed contract, and deposit.
Your child care space is not secured until you have received:

There are no rights, or claims to child care spaces by filling out this form.
EELCC retains the right at all times to decline an application.
This is a summary, please refer to our handbook, policies, and procedures for the full policy.
This can be a big worry for parents, but surprisingly enough usually the easiest thing to adapt to for the children.
There is so much to do, and so much to see, by the time nap time comes around most children are sleeping within five minutes. All you friends are sleeping in the same room around you, the sleeping room is calm, cozy, peaceful, and made for napping. We have our sleeping music on, and lovely slow moving patterns on the ceiling from our starry night light. The RECE is in the room, so safety, and care is there when needed.
As children start young they might still want to drink formula, or mothers milk. Both are possible, which ever the family provides.
For eating solids, make sure your child ate all the allergens foods before starting care.
EELCC follows baby led weaning. We do cut items with safety hazard sizes, such as grapes, cherry tomatoes, etc.
Each child is different when it comes to toilet training readiness, however one can expect this around the age of 3. Toilet training needs to be done at home, and needs to be successful for a two week period at home, before we switch to underwear, instead of pull ups.
Once the child gets the jest of it, we will follow during the day.
During the warm summer months when we spend most of the day outside is the perfect time to provide a toilet training time at child care. During the warmest summer months we start our days outside. We have an outdoor potty space for toilet training. and the children can wear just undies, and shorts. They will get 30 minute notifications of toilet breaks, and if they get a accident, no harm done, we clean, put on dry clothes, and try again.
Do not confuse teething with illness
Fever, stuffiness, runny nose or diarrhea are
not signs of teething. Blaming teething for
these symptoms could delay the diagnosis
of an ear infection, urinary tract infection,
meningitis or other bacterial or viral infection.
